Ferry Meadows - Riverside and Lakes Walk

Distance: Approximately  4.5 miles or 7.5 km
    Time:   1.5 hours
    Terrain: flat/slopes/bridges/gravel paths/grass
Eat/Toilet Stop: Ferry Meadows Information Centre & Water Sports Centre
    General Information:
This walk begins (and ends) at the Ferry Meadows Visitors Centre
We join the river and walk up to Goldie Meadow before doubling back alongside the river path until we reach Riverside Walk. At Ferry Bridge we take the river path back into Ferry Meadows via the lakeside paths.
Look out for the red information along the way for places of interest.
    • 1 Starting at the Visitor Centre (X) walk straight ahead and follow the lake path until you reach the first bridge.

      • 2 Turn right just before you reach the bridge.

      • 3 Follow the path as it takes you beside the river, then cross over the bridge. Immediately to the left of the bridge is Goldie Meadow - seen here from the viewing platform.

      • 4 You're now going to double back along the river path you just came along, but when you reach this junction again, turn right and go across the bridge...

      ...then turn right again.

      • 5 Follow the path and cross over the river bridge, then bear left.  The Riverside Walk is just on your left-hand side.

      • 6 The 'Riverside Walk' takes you directly alongside the river. Keep the river on your left-hand side and you'll eventually reach Milton Ferry bridge. Go over the bridge...

...and at the bottom, turn right through the gate.

      • 7 Follow the meadow path along the river until you reach this weir...
(This is a great spot to catch sight of Herons or Kingfishers!)

      ...then take the left-hand path.

      • 8 At the end of the path, turn left and go over the little bridge.

You're now back on the lakeside path.
When you reach the Pontoon Bridge junction, turn right and walk over the bridge.
Continue on until you reach the little railway station/play area and then either go straight on into the Watersports Centre Cafe, or bear left and follow the path all the way back to the Visitors Centre.

That's the end of your walk.
Please let us know if you enjoyed it!
